FISCAL IMPACT: This action results in a cost savings because the Family and Children's Services Associate Director-Project classification is being cancelled concurrently with P300 #20020. BACKGROUND: The Community Services Department is requesting this action as a result of the recent vacancy in the Family and Children's Services (FACS) Associate Director-Project classification and the determination to abolish this classification. The FACS Associate Director-Project classification reports directly to the FACS Head Start Division Director- Project and is responsible for ensuring program continuity in the absence of the latter and for administering and coordinating a variety of division management functions. In order to ensure that many of the duties of the FACS Associate Director-Project are continued, the department wants to establish a 5% pay differential to compensate a FACS Assistant Director-Project incumbent for performing executive level management duties in the absence of the FACS Head Start Division Director-Project and for the assignment of other special projects that may have normally been handled by the FACS Associate Director- Project. Only one (1) FACS Assistant Director-Project incumbent at a time would be eligible to receive the pay differential and this cannot extend beyond twenty-four (24) months.
