SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&I BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 19995 creating the classification of Fire District Logistics
Manager and adding a full-time position in the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, as
recommended by the Assistant County Administrator- Director of Human Resources.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is an annual cost of approximately $97,300.00 in salary and benefits associated with this
action, which is within the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District's budget.
BACKGROUND
This action is requested by the Fire District to have proper management of the District's supplies
program, which has expanded since the consolidation of the fire districts and the addition of several
programs such as advanced life support, technical rescue, mutual aid and wlldland/urban interface
firefighting. The program is responsible for ordering, purchasing, inventorying, storing, and
distributing materials, equipment, anid tools for firefighting, medical response, hazardous materials
containment, technical rescue, and more. It provides a centralized service for the procurement of
general supplies, equipment and furniture. In addition, the program is also responsible in providing
food, water and supplies to emergency personnel in major emergency incidents. The scope of the
supplies program has expanded significantly to become an overall District logistics program.
The Fire District Logistics Manager+ will be reporting directly to the Assistant. Fire Chief to plan,
organize and direct the logistics services; to manage the operation of a centralized purchasing,
receiving, storing and distributing center; and to supervise warehouse, messenger and supply
delivery service personnel for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION
If the classification is not added, t I ere will not be a sufficient level of management oversight in
the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District's Logistics Program.
