SUBJECT: APPROVE AN INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT AMENDMENT WITH THE
CONTRA COSTA COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT
Specific Request(S)or Recommendation (S) & Background and Justification
RECOMMENDATION (S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director or designee to
execute Interagency Agreement Amendment Number One (County #39-811-
24) with the Contra Costa Community College District for an inflation
adjustment in the amount of $30,450 for a new maximum reimbursable
amount of $997,338 for part-day expanded state preschool program services
for the period of July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This proposed amendment is for the period of July 1, 2005 through June 30,
2006 and is not yet included in the Department's FY 2005-06 Budget. An
Appropriation Adjustment reflecting this increase in funds will be submitted to
the Board of Supervisors for consideration upon approval of this request.
There is no net County cost to this amendment
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department Child Care Program supports two of
Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School" and "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing."
These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including
high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health to low-income
children throughout Contra Costa County.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
Since 1994, the Community Services Department has contracted with the
Contra Costa Community College District to administer and operate the
District's State Preschool program on behalf of the District. The expanded
state preschool program provides part-day preschool services to low-income
children across Contra Costa County.
The State Legislature has budgeted additional funds for Child Care and
Development programs to compensate for the higher costs associated with
these programs. Approval of this amendment will allow the Community
Services Department to apply these additional funds to their rrent child care
program.
