Please answer the following questions.
a
I's What personal skills and experience do you bring to the Continuum of
Care hoard?
I am currently a C CB member and sit on several active and working committees. I am
aware of both the practical and the policy issues and concerns in the county regarding the
homeless.
I believe that I bring an understanding of systems issues as relates to proams and policy
as my skill. I have tecn a port of the homeless network in CCC for m- any years. I have
worked in the menhealth dirvision of the county and have managed nonow profit
progams for homeless and disabled for over 15 years.
I am a co, t_leutor to the process but I also learn so much from my peers, from Homeless
Program Stiffand from the homeless people that I come in contact with each and every
day.
26 What are some of your perceptions and/or opinions about homelessness in
Coma Costa County?
r.i1
NOU-29-2005 11:20
Of course&ere is not enough affordable hoaxing in CCC or for that matter anywbeTe for

homeless people. I see homeless families daily who have not chosen their plight but are
now faced with lousing cost that are beyond their working income.
There we many disabled people who have been on the streets so long that they really
C see themselves in any other circumstance. They are distressed by their disability,
sometimes their addiction and always by the -a -a- created by their lifestyle. T
individuals are slowly coming in and entertaining change.
The comm and the systems that are in place to assist these imdlviduals need to
increase tunderstanding of the process involved with individuals developing a
willin ess to end theirown homelessness. We must be tolerant and have the proper
in progrmu place and match thew'p willingness when it happens with services d support.
These are powerful process. 'They are not simple formulas that fit all siftations. In order
for us to really end homelessness in seven more years these kinds of
39 Why are you interested in homeless issues?
Worldag with and being involved with services and policy issues related to mental health,
homelessness and affordable housing has been my life's work for over 25 years.
In 1987 as a Mental Health Case Manager for CCC',I was assigned to be the mental
health services liaison to the first non"armoty shelter in the county for people with a
mental healthdisability. TMt was my first introduction to working with and learning
from people who had no home, few resources swd no real voice to express thew" needs.
My passion lead formed and I had found my niche.
I have spent the last several years doing the work that llove—designing and operating
PrograYns
d delivering services to low income, homeless and disabled families and
individuals whose voices are seldom hew-d.
