SUBJECTApproval of Agreement #28-679-2 with West Contra Costa
Unified School District
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee
(Wendel Brunner, M. D. ) to execute on behalf of the County, Agreement
#28-679-2, with West Contra Costa Unified School District, for the
period from September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2005, to provide
education on health related topics to students at Richmond High
School.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This is a non-financial agreement.
.BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) :
On September 17, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement
#28-679-1 with the West Contra Costa Unified School District, for the
period from September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2003. This
Agreement allowed the Department' s TeenAge Program staff to provide
education on health related topics and comprehensive physical
examinations, under the Child Health and Disability Prevention
guidelines, to students at Richmond High School. These services
included, but are not limited to, immunizations, TB testing, family
planning and sexually transmitted disease services, and related
laboratory testing. Health problems beyond the treatment guidelines
were referred to County facilities, a student' s own provider, a
community provider or a CHDP provider for resolution. The Contractor
was able to have students available for this project and provide
suitable examination and rest rooms.
In accordance with the term of the agreement, County agrees to
indemnify and hold harmless Contractor from and against any and all
liability, loss, expense (including reasonable attorneys fees) , or
claims for injury or damages arising out of the performance of this
Agreement.
Approval of Agreement #28-679-2 will allow students to continue to
receive services through August 31, 2005 .
