on his Retirement
RESOLUTION NO. 2004/538
WHEREAS Kern°n Wise joined the Concord Police department in July 1976 serving as a Police Assistant,
working as Jailer and Crime Scene Technician, and becoming a Patrolman in October of 1977;and,
WNEREAS he has faithfully served as a Patrolman, Crime Scene Investigator, Motorcycle Officer, Property
Detective in Investigation, CorporalVField Training Officer, Canine Handler working with his German Sheppard,
ASKO, a member of the Problem Response Team, and president of the Concord Police Officers Association; and,
WHEREAS was selected by his peers to receive the Blue Knight Award in recognition for his exceptional work as a
police officer in the community;and,
WHEREAS; Kevin was instrumental in establishing the department's first GANG Unit, which is still in
existence today, that has helped bring about gang awareness in the department and suppress gang activity in the
community, also earning him the award of Peace Maker from the Conflict Resolution Panel of Contra Costa County
for his work as a Gang Investigator; and,
WHEREAS serving as a Peer Support Counselor, he has helped fellow employees through stressful incidents, as well
as traveling to New York City to provide peer support counseling to NYPD officers as they struggled with the aftermath
of the 9111 tragedy.-
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby thanks
and commends Police Sergeant Kevin Wise for his 29 years of dedicated service to the residents of the City of
Concord, and wishes him a rewarding and well deserved retirement.
