RECOGNIZING NOVEMBER 2004 AS HOMELESS AWARENESS MONTH
IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
WHEREAS,the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors approved a Ten Year Plan to End
Homelessness on June 8th, 2004; and
WHEREAS,chronically homeless utilize 75% of the resources allocated for services to the
homeless; and
WHEREAS, the Ten Year flan reports 4,800 persons are homeless in Contra Costa County on
any given night; and
WHEREAS,many of the homeless are children, seniors, and/or disabled; and
WHEREAS, all Cities and Communities within Contra Costa County must work together to
end homelessness not just manage it;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize the
month of November 2004 as Homeless Awareness Month in Contra Costa County and urges
all Contra Costa citizens to participate in the implementation of the Ten Year Plan to End
Homelessness.
PASSED by a unanimous vote of the Supervisors present this 2nd day of November 2004.
