D. ) , to execute on behalf of the County Contract #264-164-10 with Agostini & Associates, a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $1, 0300, 000, to provide temporary nursing registry services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, for the period from November 1, 2004 through October 31, 2045. FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is included in the Health Services Department Enterprise I budget . REASONS FOR RECO#I NDATIONS/BACKGROUND: There is a nationwide nursing and healthcare staff shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses and other healthcare staff, the Department has had to rely heavily on registry services in order to provide quality nursing care for patients. On October 21, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26- 164-9, with Agostini & Associates, for the period from November 1, 2003 through October 31, 2044, to provide temporary nursing staff to assist Contra Costa Regional. Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers during peak leads, temporary absences, and emergency situations . D. ) , to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #26-184-17 with Quest Diagnostic Inc. , a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $250, 000, for the provision of outside clinical laboratory services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from November 1, 2004 through October 31, 2005 . F1 S� REACT. This Contract is included in the Department ' s Enterprise I Budget. As appropriate, patients and third party payors will be billed for services. BACK�R> R TI On November 4, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-184-15 (as amended by Assignment #26-184-16) with Unilab Corporation, noir known as Quest Diagnostic Inc. , for the period from November 1, 2003 through October 31, 2004, for the provision of outside clinical laboratory services . These test require equipment not available at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center' s laboratory and are rarely requested laboratory tests . Because of the large number and diversity of laboratory tests used by the medical community to make diagnoses, most hospitals have to utilize outside laboratories as it is too cost prohibitive to provide all tests on site. Contra Costa County has used the services of outside laboratories for over twenty-five years. Approval of Contract #26-184-17 will allow Quest Diagnostic Inc. , to continue providing services through October 31, 2005. FISCAL IMPACT: This is included in the Enterprise I Budget.
