District II)Project No. 7539-6D8484 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer,or designee,to execute a contract amendment with William Self Associates, Inc. effective October 1, 2004 to increase the payment limit by $250,000 to a new payment limit of $360,000 to provide Archaeology Assessment,Mitigation and Construction Monitoring consulting services for the Rossmoor Basin Expansion project, Central County area. FISCAL IMPACT: The estimated cost of the amended contract increase is $250,000 funded by Drainage Area 67/Rossmoor Basin (75%) and City of Walnut Creel{ (25%) Funds. The original contract amount for William Self Associates, Inc. assumed limited archaeological resources on the project site. The amendment to the Consulting Services Agreement is needed to address the numerous and unique archaeological/cultural resources and Native American burials identified during the mitigation and construction phases of the project. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the Consulting Services Agreement is not amended, it will delay the completion of environmental compliance causing delays in construction.
