B CIS Rfl1MREASOM-) FOR REMMME I Can January 18, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract#27-277-2 (as amended by Extension Agreement#27277-3) with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., fbt the period from January 1, 2000 through September 30, 2003, for the prevision of health care services for Medi-Cal recipients enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health:Plan. Kaiser Foundation Health Plan has been a traditional provider of health care services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Contra Costa County. With the implementation of the Local Initiative for Medi-Cal managed care, kaiser, in order to continue.to enroll Medi-Cal members, must affiliate with the Local Initiative. The affiliation arrangement allows Medi-Cal recipients to choose Contra Costa Health Plan as their managed care plan, and designate Kaiser as their provider. Request to make retroactive the effective date for the proposed contract between Contra Costa County(CCHP) and Kaiser Foundation Health Flan, Inc. (Kaiser). 2. The Health flan has been in negotiations with Kaiser since October 2043. During the period from. October 2003 through the present,Kaiser has been servicing members of the Health Plan. Their coordinated support with the Health Plan and the Health Services Department remains paramount to the quality of health care provided to our members and qualified recipients. During this time negotiating teams for both parties continued to work on an agreement equitable to both parties. This agreement represents no increase in cost to the County for a continuation of services under the prior contract. This approval will lock in the same rate structure for another year. 3. Based on the above, I request your support and approval to proceed with the contract having an effective period from October 1, 2003 through September 30 2004.
