HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01272004 - C17 In the Matter of Honoring ) C'hri's Brlttire on his Retirement ) RESOLUTION NO. 2004124 3 WHEREAS, Chris Brittle Joined the Metropolitan Transportation Commission as an Airport Planner/Engineer in October 1973;and, U EREAS, through his analyses of the expansion plans of Bay Area airports and his work as staff liaison to the Regional Airport Planning Committee with responsibility for the Regional Airport Plan update (a past he held for the entirety of his career with MTC), Chris played a key role in helping regional airports accommodate,the dramatic growth in air passenger travel over the past thirty years; and, 4WEREAS, as a Senior Planner/Analyst in the 1980s, Chris added to his responsibilities and tackled other travel modes, supervising the agency's Commute Alternatives Study, the Peninsula Route 101 Study, the SCR74 Peninsula Mass Transit Study, the 1-580/1.680 Corridor Study, and many others, and, 91HEREAS, upon his promotion to Manager of Planning in 1988, Chris continued to build on his record of regional leadership in transportation planning, broadening his portfolio to include all travel modes and helping MTC' 4 build a national reputation as a model planning organization; and, LlWEREAS, he has been a driving force behind a number of major planning initiatives including the Routs 24/Caldecott Tunnel Corridor Study, the BART-San Francisco International Airport Extension study, the Interstate 80 Corridor Study, the Bay Area Transportation Blueprint in 2000 and MTC's comprehensive, triennial Regional Transportation Plans, Chris has helped bring key projects to completion while working to envision, shape and define a transportation future that will bring benefits to Bay Area travelers for years to come; NOW, THEREFORg BE IT RESOLVED that Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County thanks and commends Chris Brittle for his three decades of exemplary service to the cause of Bay Area transportation, and wishes for this longtime resident of Moraga a rewarding and well-deserved retirement.
