RECOGNIZING THE
EMPLOYEES OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
AND THE 2003 "CONTRA COSTA COUNTY CLIP CHALLENGE"HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE
WHE.i E4S, Contra Costa County departments and employees enthusiastt"cally rose to the challenge to
raise funds and food for'the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano during the 2003 holiday season;and
WHEREAS; the 1":Annual I Contra Costa County Cup Challenge raised food and funds equivalent to
more than 1.24,000 pounds of food,over 85% of tts goat of 145,000 pounds;'and
WHERE,4S, the following departments and team leaders far exceeded their departmentalgoals of 15
pounds per employee by astronomical percentages of their department goals:

WHEREAS, many other competing departments also met or far_exceeded their goals; and
WHEREAS,this Impressive generosity will help the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano In providing
direct relief to aver 45,600 low-income residents of Contra Costa County throughout>the months to come;
NOW, THEREFORE,BELTRESOL VED that the Board gf Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby
makes its first annual presentation of the County Cup to the Qfftce-of Revenue Collection; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County congratulates all
participating County departments and their tireless leaders for their inspired efforts on behalf of their community
andih ase in creed;and,
BE IT FURTHkw RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County thanks all County
employees and residents for participating in the 2003 Holiday Food Drive acrd urges all citizens of Contra Costa
County and their communities to'recognize the merits and imperativeness of this cause and to give generously to
the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano throughout the year to come; including the 2044 County Cup
Challenge.
