RECOM'M'ENDED ACTION: 1. CONDUCT a Public Hearing to adjust service fees for the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division effective January 1, 2004. 2. CLOSE Public Hearing, ADOPT Resolution Number 2004/40 effecting the fee adjustments. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The adoption of the attached Resolution will allow the County to recover the costs associated with the listed activities in the Fee Schedule dated January 1, 2004. III. BACKGROUND: In the 1994-1995 fiscal year, the Forensic Services Division was required to cover costs of all services from laboratory users. A fee schedule was established defining the costs of evidence examination services for the users of laboratory services. The Forensic Services Division has experienced increases in costs for salaries and supply costs since the implementation of the fee schedule currently in use and the new schedule includes fees for evidence examination services that have been added since the last Board approval. This action supercedes any prior evidence examination fees set by the Board. IV. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Negative action will result in insufficient revenue to offset the cost of these activities.
