RESOLUTION HONORING ERLING RESOLUTION 2004/642
HORN FOR. HIS SERVICE TO THE
CITY AND PEOPLE OF LAFAYETTE
WHEREAS, Erling Horn, recognized by then Lafayette City Councilmember Gayle B. Ullkema as a
resident with much to offer his community, first accepted her invitation to public service in 1982; and
WHEREAS, Erling served as a member of the Parking Commission from 1982 until 1986 and as
Chair of the Commission in 1985; and
WHEREAS, Erling then joined the Planning Commission, served from 1986 until 1995, and was
Chairman in 1990 and 1995;and
WHEREAS, Erling was elected to the Lafayette City Council in November 1995 and served two terms
from 1996 until 2004; and
WHEREAS, Erling served as Mayor of Lafayette in 1999 and 2004, and
WHEREAS. Erling remains an energetic and enthusiastic proponent of numerous projects that will
benefit the City of Lafayette and its residents, including the new Veterans Memorial Building and the
new Library and Learning Center; and
WHEREAS, Erling has participated in countless meetings, activities and events in his continuing
effort to encourage his fellow Lafayette residents to become actively involved.in shaping and
improving their community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does
hereby commend and thank Erling Horn for his 22 years of deviated service to the city and people of
Lafayette.
