HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12142004 - C.126 z2 z2 In the Matter of Support for } Future Ford of Concord Workers } RESOLUTION NO. 20041544 HWEREASS, for over twenty years the dealership now known as Future Ford of Concord has had a collective bargaining agreement with the Teamsters Local 315 and Machinists; and HWEREASS, the new owner of Future Ford has refused to hire 80% of the former employees who were union while hiring over 90% of the employees who were not covered by a collective bargaining agreement; and WWEREAS, the actions of the new owner has resulted in an unfair labor practice strike and complaints filed with the National Labor Relations Board; and 4WEREAS, the employees not hired by Future Ford had been promised their employment with the new owner, and as a result, had not sought other employment during the sale period thereby greatly jeopardizing the security and stability of their families; and TMEREAS, Contra Costa County supports collective bargaining and encourages collaborative, supportive relationships between employers and employees; and WHEREAS, protracted labor conflict is not in the interest of our community; and NOW, THEREFOR., BE ITRESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County requests that the former employees of Lithia Ford be returned to work at Future Ford and that Future Ford begin bargaining in good faith with the collective bargaining agents of this Dealership.
