SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
1 EXERCISE the first option for a two-year extension of the Lease dated January 1, 2001 with
Joseph Arrighi and Harris Wolfson for the premises at 2523 El Portal Drive, Suite 102, San
Pablo, for continued occupancy by the Health Services Department, under the terms and
conditions more particularly set forth in the Lease.,
2. AUTHORIZE the General Services Director, or designee, to exercise any future options to
extend the Lease.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The exercise of the first option was anticipated and sufficient funds budgeted in the Health Services
Department FY 2003/2004 approved budget. The first option is for a term of two years, effective
January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2005. The rental rate for the two-year extension term is
$3110 per month, an increase of$60 per month over the previous rate.
BACKGROUND
The County has leased the premises since January 1, 2001 to provide approximately 2,124 square
feet of office space for the Health Services Department-Substance Abuse Prevention Program. The
Lease provides the County with a second and final option to extend the Lease for a two-year term,
from January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2007 at a specified rental amount of$3205 per month.
