For several gears the County has contracted with registries to provide t.emporary medical professionals to assist Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health venters during pear loads, temporary absences, and emergency situations , here is a nationwide nursing and healthcare staff shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses and other healthcare staff, the Departm=ent has experienced great difficulty in filling any vacant positions. Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality nursing case for patients On December 8, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved.
