SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to submit a funding
application to the Community Development Department for a Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for planning and design to improve the
accessibility of County facilities for persons with disabilities for fiscal year 2003-2004.
FISCAL IMPACT:
If awarded, this CDBG application would result in up to $50,000 in federal CDBG funds to pay
for planning and design services to improve accessibility to County facilities for persons with
disabilities. The application includes a County match of $50,000, for a total project budget of
$100,000. The source of the proposed County match is proceeds from the County's recent

BACKGROUND
In FY 2002-2003, the CAO applied for and received a CDBG award to surrey County facilities
