Rupf, SheriffCosta DATE: December 5, 2002 County SUBJECT: Contract with the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training/ Emergency Vehicles Operations Course (EVOC) Training SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION 1. RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff, or designee, to sign a contract with the State of California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) to accept an amount not to exceed $66,750 for the presentation of P.O.S.T. certified Emergency Vehicles Operations Course training by the Law Enforcement Training Center during the period of July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. 11. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract agreement will allow the Office of the Sheriffs Law Enforcement Training Center to recover costs associated with the presentation of Emergency Vehicles Operations Course training. Ill. BACKGROUND: In January of 2001, the Office of the Sheriff took over the operation of the Law Enforcement Training Center. One of the courses required by P.O.S.T. is the Emergency Vehicles Operations Course training. P.O.S.T. provides funding for agencies that present this training. DATE: January 7, 2003 „,,,County �' u SUBJECT; State Sudden Oak Death (SOD) Contract for FY 2002-03 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTWICATM RECOMMENDATIONS : AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner or his designee, to sign an agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). Agreement No. 02-0669 proposes to reimburse the County $83,478.96 for providing regulatory enforcement activities. The contract is effective July 10, 2002 through June 30, 2003. BACKCR,QUN©: The California Department of Food and Agriculture is the lead agency for a Multi- Agency Task Force, known as the California Oak Mortality Task Force (COMTF), which was farmed to develop a coordinated effort to address what is called Sudden Oak Death. Due to CDFA`s responsibilities under the COMTF and Its statutory authority to establish quarantines, CDFA must enter an agreement with the Impacted county In order to comply with the requirements of AS 82 (Midgen). DATE: December 17, 2002 a m i y SUBJECT: State-County Pierce's disease Control/GWSS Program for FY 2002-03 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECQMMENDATIONf _ 3: AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner or his designee, to sign an agreement with the Department of Food and Agriculture. Contract No. 02-0661 proposes to reimburse the County $322,320.22 for providing detection and delimitation of the glassy-winged sharpshooter (GWSS) and suppression or eradication of any populations as rapidly as possible. The agreement is effective July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. BACKGROUND: The County Department of Agriculture deploys traps, inspects incoming nursery shipments, landscaping and host crops countywide to detect Incipient Infestations of GWSS. Any population of GWSS detected Is delimited and controlled or eradicated. That State reimburses the County for all costs involved in this program.
