COMMEMORA TING THE RECENTLY CHARTERED
LEAGUE OF UNITED LATIN AMERICAN CITIZENS
CONTRA COSTA COUNCIL #31171
WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens Contra Costa Council
43071 was chartered on October 1, 2002; and
WHEREAS, membership is open to all interested in upholding the mission of this
organization in respect to advance the economic condition, educational attainment,political
influence, health, and civil rights of the Hispanic population in Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, the function of the League of United Latin American Citizens Contra
Costa Council#3071 is part of the National League of United Latin American Citizens, which
monitors legislation andprovides policy makers with the Hispanic perspective on immigration,
education, affirmative action, social program, business issues and environmental justice; and
WHEREAS, on January 25, 2003 the League of United Latin American Citizens
Contra Costa Council#3071 will be installing their first Slate of Officers in Antioch; and
WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens Contra Costa Council
#3071 is an investment in the future we all must share.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County, hereby gratefully acknowledges and congratulates the League of United Latin
American Citizens Contra Costa Council#3071 on their charter and first Slate of Officers and
wishes them well in their future endeavors.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board.Members present on this 7th day of January,

In the Matter of Resolution No. 200315
RECOGNIZING TINIER VANEK
AS THE MA YOR OF OAKLEY
WHEREAS, Tinker Vanek has served the community of Oakley as a member of the
City Council and Redevelopment Agency since 1999 and the Chamber of Commerce for many
years before; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vanek served as the Mayor of the City of Oakley for the 2002 year;
and
WHEREAS, the performance of her duties and responsibilities has,been characterized
by an obvious dedication to getting the job done well; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vanek has justly earned the respect, admiration, and high regard of
all with whom she has come into contact over the years of serving her community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESDL VED the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County hereby recognizes Tinker Vanek for her years of civic contributions to the City
of Oakley, and the community of Oakley before that, and wishes her well in all her future
endeavors.

RECOGNIZING ROBERT LEWIS
FOR HIS CIVIC CONTRIBUTIONS
WHEREAS, Robert Lewis has served the community of Pittsburg as a member of the
City Council and Redevelopment Agency since 1989; and
WHEREAS, Robert Lewis served as the Mayor of the City of Pittsburg in 1993 and
1997; and
WHEREAS, the performance of his duties and responsibilities has been characterized
by an obvious dedication to getting the job done well; and
WHEREAS, Robert Lewis has justly earned the respect, admiration, and high regard
of all with whom he has came into contact over the years of serving his community.
NOW, THEREFORE, .BE IT RESOL VED the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County, hereby recognizes Robert.Lewis,for his many years of civic contributions to the

HONORING DORIS BEDFORD FOR SERVING
AS THE 2002 DELTA ASSOC`ATION OF REALTORS
PRESIDENT
WHEREAS, Doris Bedford first began her career in real estate by obtaining her
license in 1977 and brokers license in 1993; and
WHEREAS, Doris has been honored by receiving the Realtor Associate of the Year
Award in 1985, and served as the President of Eastern Contra Costa Board of Realtors in 1987;
and
WHEREAS, Doris was the First Women to serve and chair the City of Pittsburg
Planning Commission from 1984 to 1992; and
WHEREAS, she has found time in her busy schedule to be an active member of the
Soroptimist International of Pittsburg since 1979, to volunteer with the American Cancer Society
since 1996 and Pittsburg Yacht Club since 1997, and to host young people visiting from Japan
since 1980; and
WHEREAS, throughout her long career in real estate, .Doris has earned the respect,
admiration, and high regard of all those with whom she has come into contact who are proud to
call her friend.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County hereby extends its sincere congratulations to Doris Bedford for serving as the
2002 President of the Delta Association of Realtors, and its best wishes for her future endeavors.
