BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
It is the policy of the County to utilize park dedication Bands to meet local perk needs. This
action is consistent with that policy. In addition, the City's Park and Recreation Committee
has recommended a park improvement priority list which has been adopted by the
Martinez City Council by resolution, Waterfront Park was listed as a high priority project
on that list.
The project includes removing the existing play equipment and installing "state of the
art play structures"for ages 2 to 5. The amenities include swings, climbing equipment
slides, sand box and ground level play equipment plus benches and seat walls. These
improvements have been designed so as to provide access and amenities in
accordance with the current ADA requirements. The City has received)bids and the
cast to improve Waterfront Park is $241,749. Work is expected to be completed by
February 2003.
