HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02252003 - C30-C34 L4L � oe' In the Matter of Honoring } Undersheriff Kathryn J.Holmes ) To Commemorate Her Retirement } RESOLUTION NO.20023/65 WHEREAS, Kathryn J.Holmes is retiring from the position of Undersheriff of the Office of the Sheriff of Contra Costa County after 30 years of exemplary service;and WHEREAS, Kathryn J.Holmes joined the Office of the Sheriff in 1973 as a Criminalist in the Criminalistics Laboratory, where her skill and:expertise were recognized with her promotion in 1979 to Supervising Criminalist in the Drug,Alcohol and Instrumentation Unit;and WHEREAS, Kathryn J.Holmes became the Chief of the Criminalistics Laboratory Division in 1993, where she effectively managed the crime laboratory, to include general criminalistic services, crime scene processing,fingerprint services,alcohol and toxicology examinations and property storage services;and WHEREAS, Kathryn J.Holmes was selected in 1995 as the Commander of the Support Services Bureau, assuming responsibility for the Forensic Services,Emergency Services,and Technical Services Divisions; and WHEREAS, Kathryn J.Holmes'commitment to the law enforcement community is demonstrated by her service to the California Association of Crime Laboratory Directors, where she served as Secretary, President, and Chair of the Legislature Committee; the California Association of Criminalists as Chair, Public Health Liaison;the American Academy of forensic Sciences,and the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors;and WHEREAS, Kathryn J. Holmes was recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties for the development and implementation of the Driver Alcohol Program;and WHEREAS, Kathryn J.Holmes,through her professionalism,dedication,strong leadership,and vision, achieved the highest law enforcement position held by a female in the history of Contra Costa County with herr appointment as Undersheriff in September of 1999; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa does hereby thank with sincere appreciation and congratulate Undersheriff Kathryn J.Holmes on her 30 years of invaluable service to the Office of the Sheriff and to Contra Costa County.
