Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District ) RESOLUTION NO. 2003157
VVKERF,.AS, Nancy Maley, is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with
aBachelor of Science degree in Conservation of Natural Resources, and
WHEREAS, Nancy Whale, prior to entering the field of aging and leisure services, worked
in environmental education for Sacramento County Parks Department and Lindsey Wildlife
Museum in Walnut Creek; and
WHEREAS; Nancy Whaley has served as Recreation Supervisor for the Pleasant Hill Senior
Center for 20 years. Nancy Whaley has directed and developed an outstanding senior program
for the people of this community; and
WHEREAS, under Nancy Whaley's leadership, the Pleasant Hill Senior Center has received
numerous awards for the many varied programs it offers. Nancy Whaley has doubled the
number of programs offered to the senior community and has developed one of the top senior
programs in the State of California; and
WHEREAS, Nancy "aley's caring for seniors and her love for people of all ages is one of
her many outstanding traits that are displayed on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Whaley will be truly missed by all of those she serves and with whom
she works.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board of Supervisors of the County of
Contra Costa in the State of California commends Nancy Whaley for her years of dedicated
service; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board does hereby extend to Nancy Whaley its
best wishes on spending her retirement in Aptos, California.

Recognizing Mr. Keith Axtell for his commitment to the
community of North Richmond on the occasion of his
retirement from the LIS Department of Housing and
Urban Development
WHEREAS,Keith Axtell worked for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for 35
years;and
WHEREAS, Keith Axtell helped to establish the Federal RegionalCouncil (FRC) to improve inter-
governmental cooperation and consistently works hard to bring together people from various
departments,juris"On's,and,disciplines;and
WHEREAS,Keith Axtell served as Co-Chair of The North Richmond Task Force,consisting of
federal,state,county and city representatives,focused on revitalization efforts for the community of
North Richmond and dedicated himself to the efficient functioning of the North Richmond Task
Force;an#
WHEREAS,Keith Austell has wholeheartedly supported and helped t6facilitate,the efforts of the North
Richmond Beautification Committee;and
WHEREAS'Keith A xlell is committed to improving the health,welfare,and gnAlIty,of life of residents
of North Richmond,and
WHEREAS,Keith Axteliserved as Commissioner of the Metropolitan Transp"'rtation Commission
forseven years, HUD MTC conducts long-rawge pl and fttancing for mayor,

WITEREAS,Keith Axtell builds partnerships and facilitates interpersonal linkages for the benefit of the
community;and
WHEREAS,'Keith Axtell retired from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development on

NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County honors
and thanks Keith Axtell for his endeavors in the Bay Area,and West Contra Costa County and North
Richmond,specifically.
