THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY,CALIFORNIA
Adopted this'Order on December 16, 2003 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Gioia,Uilkema, Greenberg, Glover and DeSaulnier
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
John Sweeten, County Administrator gave a brief update on the developments in
the State's budget crisis. He advised that Legislation is at recess until January.
However, they did take action on authorizing a$15 billion dollar bond package,
limited spending to the revenues collected and set aside a fund. They did not
address the issue of the Vehicle License Fee backfill. Mr. Sweeten noted that he
would return to the Board at a later date with an update.
He also advised that Senator McClintock has a Constitutional Amendment
initiative that has been in circulation since August 2003 and requires 598,400
signatures. The deadline for those signatures is January 12, 2004. At this time,
Mr. Sweeten could not advise the Board how many signatures there are at this
time.
The Chair then invited those who wished to address the Board on this issue. The
following person presented testimony:
Rollie Katz, Public Employees Union Local#1, P.O. Box 222,Martinez.
The Board then took the following action:
ACCEPTED the oral report from the County Administrator on new
developments in the State's budget crisis.

Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
