BACKGROUND/REASON (S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : For many years the County has contracted with registries to provide temporary qualified personnel to assist the Department during peak work loads, temporary absences and emergency situations . On January 22, 2002 , the Board of Supervisors approved Contract 426-429 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #26-429-1) , with J & C Nationwide, for the recruitment of temporary physician . services to cover vacation, sick leave, and extended leave relief for County-employed physicians at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Main Detention Facility through December 31, 2003 . Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-429-2 will allow Contractor to provide additional hours of service through December 31, 2003 . RACKGROITND/RFASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides an integrated community-based mental health access and care program for mentally ill residents of homeless encampments in Contra Costa County. On February 12, 2002, the Board. of Supervisors approved Contract #25-049 with Phoenix Programs, Inc. for the period from January 1, 2002 through September 30, 2002, for the provision of outreach and support services for County's Homeless Encampment Outreach Project. Approval of Contract #25-049-1 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through September 30, 2003.
