AS "MONTH OF THE ARTS" IN CONTRA
COSTA COUNTY
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County recognizes the contributions of artists, historical societies, arts agencies,
scholars,museums, theatres, performing artists, libraries, schools, and private foundations that represent and
support the arts and humanities; and
WHEREAS,the arts and humanities benefit and contribute to the health and well-being of the citizens of
Contra Costa County by allowing individuals to express their creativity, providing enjoyment and enrichment
for others, adding cultural diversity through the display of events relating to cultural heritages, and creating jobs
for County residents;and
WHEREAS, the arts and humanities affeet eyery pet of life iri=-Contra Costa County, including the
economy, social problernpsolvm , v e edu at oft creatt 1tyl , c:community livability; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa C+ t"4 1 disport the arts th 419, the Arts and Culture Commission of
Contra Costa county and the sever." rl -municipal and regions arts alliances that are functioning through the
County; and
WHEREAS, Co*4 oma--County has arts and humanities programs that include the arts for people with
disabilities, chi�dr of allages, seniors, and arts programs in inner cities;:therapeutic, and correctional
institutions, and
WHEREAS", the Arts and Culture Commission is recognizing several individuals and organizations for
significant 0ehievenlent in the arts in Contra Costa County at the Seventh Annual Arts Recognition Awards

HONORING BISHOP CURTIS TIMMONS
FOR HIS 42nd YEAR IN THE GOSPEL MINISTRY
WHEREAS, Bishop Curtis Timmons has dedicated forty-two years of service to Cod,
of which he presently serves as Overseer and Presiding Prelate of the "Fellowship Association of
.Nation Wide Independent Churches"; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Timmons was honored by being chosen, consecrated, and installed
into the "BISHOPRIC"at the age of thirty-five; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Timmons vast experience in the ministry has enabled him to train,
license, ordain, commission, and install Pastors, Elders, Ministers, etc., into the gospel ministry
all across America; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Timmons and First Lady Jo Yvonne Timmons celebrated thirty five
year's of marriage in April of this year and have been blessed with three children who have
received from their parents careful training that develops good citizens and spiritual adults; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Timmons has found time to give generously of his time and spiritual
inspiration to his followers, he has also devoted countless hours serving this community through
organizations too numerous to mention; and
WHEREAS, we give pause, honor, and hope this day that Bishop Timmons will further
enrich his commitment to his followers and this community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Contra Costa, California, does hereby offer a most cordial and sincere expression of our
congratulations and appreciation to Bishop Curtis Timmons for his forty-two years of dedicated
service.

In the Matter of RESOLUTION NO. 2002/656
HONORING SHARON J. BROWN FOR HER COAPAITMENT TO HER +COMMINITY
WHEREAS,Ms.Brown,originally from Clovis,New Mexico,has been raised and educated in the Bay Area,and has
proven herself to be extremely dedicated in her careers,community,and family,and
WHEREAS,Ms.Brown began her Career in the transportation field,with a degree in Transportation Economics from.the
Golden Gate University,initially working for the Department of the Navy and then working for Matson Navigation,Seatrain
Lines,Yandell Truckaway,and GSL Shipping;and
WHEREAS, Ms.Brown started a new career by going into real estate,after obtaining;her real estate brokers license in
1984.That same year,she began her career in public service by being elected to the San Pablo City Council,where she
continues to serve the residents of the city as a councilperson and as three time Mayor;and
W IE'REAS,Ms.Brown has served as president and chairperson of numerous organizations,including,The Women's Traffic
Club of San Francisco,the Business and Professional Women of San Pablo,and The Association of Metropolitan Planning
Organization;and
WHEREAS,'Ms.Brown has also been actively involved in several associations,such as the Governing Board of
Brookside Hospital,National Association of Realtors,California Association of Realtors,the West County Business and
Professional Association,the Board of Directors for the Contra Costa College Foundation,and the Sart Pablo Chamber of
Commerce;and,
WHEREAS,Ms.Brown was honored as the Woman of the Year by the San Pablo Exchange Club,and has received other
honors and awards in her years in public office and service;and
WHEREAS,IVIS.Brown has been instrumental in obtaining generous amounts of donations and.grants to help fund
numerous programs and organizations that include the Police In Schools To Offer Life(PISTOL),new playground
equipment at Davis Park,the San Pablo Adopt-A-Family,and children in general;and
WHEREAS,Ms.Brown is a respected transportation leader in the Bay Area,serving as Chair of the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission and helping lead the effort to pass Contra Costa County's Measure C.
NOW,BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Contra Costa does hereby recognize the important contributions,
dedication, and example that Sharon J. Brown has provided to Contra Costa County and the San Francisco Bay Area
community.

In the Matter of RESOLUTION NO. 2002/657
HONORING RUBY MOLINARI ON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 16 YEARS OF
SERVICE TO CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
WHEREAS, Ruby Molinari has been a Contra Costa County resident since moving to El Sobrante
from Daly City on 1976; and
WHEREAS, Ruby Molinari began her career with Contra Costa County's Employment and Human
Services, first as an Eligibility Worker in the MediCal Unit, then a Social Worker in the GAN Unit,
and, finally, to the Appeals Unit as an Appeals Officer; and
WHEREAS, Ruby Molinarfs dedication spans into the West Contra Costa County community of
El Sobrante where she has been involved with various groups including the El Sobrante Valley
Planning and Zoning Advisory Committee (ELP&Z)where she served as Chairman from 1994 to
1998, and as Vice Chairman since 1998; and
WHEREAS, Ruby Molinari was appointed. in 1997 as an alternate to the El Sobrante Municipal
Advisory Council, then was elected to the council on November of 1998, becoming Vice Chairman
from 1999 to 2002, then was elected by her peers to become the Chairperson of the Council, and
WHEREAS,Ms. Molinari was elected as the Vice Chairman for the El Sobrante Crime Prevention
Committee in 2001, and continues to hold that position.
NOW, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Contra Costa does hereby recognize the
dedication, and untiring-and exemplary service that Ruby Molinari has provided in her 16 years of
employment.
