SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED-ACTION APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to EXECUTE contract (#21-570-4) with Family Stress Center in the amount of$70,300 for Family Preservation and Support Program (FPSP) post-adoption support group and childcare services, for the period from October 1, 2002 through September 30, 2003. FINANCIAL IMPACT $70,300: 100%Federal Family Preservation and Support Program funding:No County Costs. CYNILDRENIS IMPACT STATEMENT This contract directly supports two of Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families." 13A_CKG.ROITND On June 15, 1999,the Board approved the Family Preservation and Support Program(FPSP)plan for Contra Costa County as approved by the Executive Committee of the Policy Forum. FPSP is designed to help families at risk or in crisis by providing a comprehensive continuum of services to children and families. As part of the FPSP, Family Stress Center was contracted to provide post-adoption support groups and childcare in East, West, and Central County to parents who have adopted children. Their services include the facilitation of support groups for parents, children's therapy groups, individual case management, childcare,referral service and the development of client-initiated and self-led support groups. The County' s Community Wellness and Prevention Program staff will supervise all community advocates and approve all expenditures .
