BACKGROUND-- Mr. ACKGRO TNID:Mr. John Q. Duong, a Workforce Development Board (WDB) member, submitted his resignation (attached). Mr. Duong represented the business community in accordance with section 117 (b) (2) (A) (i) of the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998. Mr. Duong is resigning to serve in the President Bush Administration as Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The Workforce Development Board works with a broad range of business, education, labor, public agencies and community-based organizations to recruit highly qualified nominees for appointment to the Board. All nominees will meet the strict criteria set forth in the Workforce Investment Act. Nominees will be forwarded to the Internal Operations Committee following WDB endorsement.
