RECOMMENDATION:
ADOPT Resolution No. 2002/47 proclaiming February 26 2002 as "Spay Day USA" in Contra
Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
February 26, 2002 has been set as the annual Celebration of national "Spay day USA"for
observing responsible pet ownership and kindness to animals.

Enclosed in your Spay Day USA 2002 Action Pack are the following items:

• An Event Planning Guide that explains everything you need to know about organizing a Spay Day USA
event. Veteran Spay Day event organizers, please note: Some things have changed this year! If you
read nothing else, please be certain to read pages 4, 22, and 23.
• A Spay Day USA Poster that you can personalize with your local event information. Additional copies,
and copies in Spanish, are available from DDAE
• Ten copies of a Spay Day USA brochure that you can personalize with your local event information, to
distribute to members of the general public. Additional copies are available from DDAE
• One sheet of six Spay Day USA stickers to distribute to people who participate in your Spay Day event,
to attach to spay/neuter invoices,etc. Additional sheets are available from DDAE
• A Merchandise/Literature Order Form (on the back of the PSA Order Form). Use this form to order
t-shirts, sweatshirts, pens, and additional Spay Day literature.
• A Celebrity PSA Order Form (on the back of the Merchandise/Literature Order Form). Use this form to
order'a celebrity radio or TV Spay Day USA PSA from Pets 911. See page 21 of the Event
Planning Guide.
• An Ad Slick (on the back of the Coloring/Essay Contest Slick). Camera-ready artwork you can use to
place ads and create your own Spay Day USA materials. If you choose to print the logo in color, the PMS
colors are red 200,blue 662.
• A Coloring/Essay Contest Slick (on the back of the Ad Slick). To photocopy and distribute to children.
See page 5 of the Event Planning Guide.
• An article about early-age spay/neuter (on the back of the Alley Cat Allies flyer) to distribute to veterinarians.
• An Alley Cat Allies flyer (on the back of the early-age spay/neuter article) about how to help
feral cats.
• An informational flyer about the new spay/neuter stamp.
• A Spay Day USA Event Registration Form to use if you do not have Internet access.
• A Spay Day USA Event Results Form to use if you do not have Internet access.
• Two Business Reply Envelopes you may use to mail in your Merchandise Order Form or other forms.
