Source of funds includes third party revenues as appropriate. BACKOROUNDIREASON'S FOR RECOMMENDATIONS': On January 23, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract ##26- 306-4 with Per Diem Staffing Systems', Inc. , for the period from February 1, 2001 through January' 31, 2402, for the provision of respiratory 'therapist registry services at Centra Costa Regional ' Medical Center. Approval of Contract 26-346-5,'' will allow the Contractor to continue ' providing registry services for peak loads, temporary absences, and emergency situations through January 31, 2003 . Physicians, placed by the Contractor, are required to be members of the County' s Medical Staff and to be credentialed through; existing medical staff processes. Under Contract #26-434 Contractor will provide temporary physician coverage for Contra. Costa Regional Medical Center' s inpatient Psychiatry services through December 31, 2002 . Specific staffing ratios for these programs are established by State regulatory agencies (Department of Developmental Services and the Department of Social Services) The shortage of skilled staff makes it difficult to stay in compliance' with the State staffing ratios without resorting to overtime ,pay for the permanent Developmental Urogram Aides', Approval of Contract #22-821 will allow the Contractor, a temporary help firm, to provide iqualified teachers for George Miller Centers to provide coverage during temporary staff absences,' vacations and vacant positions. The Contractor' s temporary staff will work in the Enfant, school-aged and adult program through December. 31, ' 2002 . BACICGRC� IREASt7N FOR REO k-NII ATI ON(S) Effective July, 1, 1992, State Mental Health Realignment Legislation shifted responsibility for payment to providers from the State to the Counties and required Counties to assume direct responsibility for contracting with sub-(acute skilled nursing, facilities. Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc. has been: providing services since 1998 . On February6, 2001 and May 23, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Contracts #24-933'-11 (as amended by, Contract Amendment Agreement #24-933µl2) and '#24-935-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #24-935-4) with Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc. for the period from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001, which included six-month automatic extensions through December 31 ,. 2001 , for subacute care for County residents who are severely and 'persistently, mentally ill (SMI) and Neurobehavioral clients . This Contract will combine services previously provided under Contracts #24 933-11 ('as amended, by Contract Amendment Agreement #24-933-12) and. 424- 935-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #24-935-4) . Approval of Novation. Contract #24-933-13 will replace the six--month automatic extensions under the prier Contracts, and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30 2002 .
