FINANCIAL IMPACT None. The funding for these positions was approved in August 2001`and is budgeted. BACKGROUND In August 2001,the Board of Supervisors approved an additional$1.1 M to increase hours of operation at County libraries. The Board referred the issue to the Public Manager's Associationto develop recommendations relating to a city/C'ountymatch'program and to develop an equitable distribution formula for the funds. The PMA met in September and October and developed a set of recommendations that were approved by the Board of Supervisors in November 2001. Cities that are currently not providing funds for additional hours must do so in order to receive the County funds. The County will provide the match for libraries in the unincorporated areas. County Library staff is working with each city and unincorporated community with a branch library to implement the program. This P300 addspositions for those communities that have completed or are close to completing implementation plans. The library expects to continue adding positions as these agreements are reached with the cities in the next few months.
