Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Over the past year the Flood Control District has been working with staff from the offices of Senator Feinstein, Congressman Miller, and Congresswoman Tauscher to secure funding from the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers (ALOE)for three much needed flood controlprojects in Contra Costa County. The only mechanism for funding was to pursue Congressional Add-ons,which are very difficult to obtain. Through the efforts of the legislators, $100,000 was appropriated for the Wildcat/San Pablo Creeks-Phase 2 Project, $100,000 for the Grayson/Murderer's Creeks Project, and $250,000 for the Lower Walnut Creek Channel Project. IV. Consequences of Neeative Action: Failure to send letters of thanks may lessen the opportunity for future support from the legislators.
