HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02262002 - C30 C3o RESOLUTION NO. 2002/91 PROCLAMA77ON DESIGNAT7NG 2002 AS THE "YEAR OF THE ROSE" WHEREAS,in 1986 the Rose was designated and adopted as the national floral emblem of the United States; and WHEREAS,the Rose has long been a source of inspiration to humankind,representing love,friendship, beauty and peace;and WHEREAS,the American Rose Society desires to join with all who love,honor and grow the Rose,the World's Favorite Flower,on the occasion of the Society's 110th Anniversary;and WHEREAS,the County of Contra Costa would like to applaud the El Cerrito Garden Club and City of El Cerrito's efforts to build a City Rose Garden,and WHEREAS,President George W. Bush has signed a Joint Resolution of Congress proclaiming the Year 2002 be designated as the"Year of the Rose"; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby proclaims the Year 2002 as the "YEAR OF THE RASE,"to encourage our citizens and our community to be involved in activities and events in celebration of the Rose,and the many contributions of roses to the quality of life for our citizens.
