HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02262002 - C29 t In the Matter of Supporting the Tri-Valley ) Agricultural Water Task Force) RESOLUTION NO.2002/95 WHEREAS, a substantial, sustainable expansion of irrigated agriculture cannot occur unless the Tri-Valley obtains additional_agricultural water, and to this end, the Tri-Valley Business Council,working closely with the cities,counties and other agencies of the Tri-Valley, as well as with a broad cross-section of community representatives, established the Tri-Valley Agricultural Water'Task�Force, and . WMEREAS,the Tri-Valley Agricultural Water Task Force employs a consensus-based approach to determine the feasibility.of long-term plans for increasing agricultural wafter for the region, ani'' WHEREAS, the goals of the Agricultural Task Force will be to create a plan to obtain water for the increased irrigated agriculture in the Tri-Valley11 I rt a way that will integrate economic profitabil ty,environmental health,and will respect the needs'and desires of people in the,region;,to identify and resolve issues of eommn concern related to n'increase in irrigated agriculture;.and to promote communications and understanding among"the different interests involved in agricultural land decisions, and W'HEREAS,,the work of this Task Force has already received:forrnalrecognition from the Board of Supcviscirs.of Alairneiia County and formal recognition will also be requested of all Tri Valley cities, including Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and the Town of Danville, WHEREAS, the efforts of the Task Force are coordinated with other agricultural efforts including: the Alameda County Agricultural Advisory Committee; Sate and'Federal resource agencies; implementation programs under Alameda County's Open Space Preservation Plan; Senator Tom'Torlakson's Agricultural Task Force; and Vision 2010, and NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County formally recognizes and supports the efforts of the Tri-Valley Agricultural Water Task Force.
