FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded by the Health Services Department ' s Enterprise I . BACK.GROUNWREASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(3) : In December 2001, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #26-431 with Complete Systems Diagnostics, to provide temporary Ultrasound technologist to assist Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers during peak loads, temporary absences and emergency situations in critical areas, for the period from January 2, 2001 through January 2, 2003 . Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-431-1, will allow Contractor to provide additional ultrasound staffing coverage services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, through January 2, 2003 . FISCAL IMPACT: Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services . BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital and health center. On April 3, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26- 958-2 with Muir Orthopaedic Specialists (Formerly: Muir Orthopedics) , for the period from March 1, 2001 through February 28, 2002, to provide orthopedic services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. At the time of negotiations, payment limit was based upon target levels of utilization, however, the utilization for Orthopedic patient care services during the term of the agreement was actually higher than originally anticipated. FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this contract is included in the Department ' s Enterprise I Budget, and as appropriate, patients and third-party payors will be billed for contractor' s services. BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Family Practice Residency Program requires behavioral science faculty, and Dr. Nakell has provided professional behavioral science consultation and training for the Department ' s Family Practice Residency Program since 1988 . In addition, Dr. Nakell supervises Residents, works with the Department ' s AIDS and Symptom Control Programs, conducts a clinic, and consults with patients referred to her by Residents. On February 27, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-178-18, with Linda Nakell, Ph.D. , for the period from March 1, 2001 through February 28, 2002 .
