ACCEPT information requested by the Board on September 24, 2002 during the Public Hearing
on use of State Law Enforcement Supplemental (Front Line Enforcement) Funds.

11. R RECOMMENDED ATI
On September 24,2002,during the Public Hearing on use of State Law Enforcement Supplemental
(Front Line Enforcement) Funds, the Board of Supervisors requested that the Sheriff provide
statistical and fiscal information related to the Sheriffs Air Support Unit and the number,assignment
and funding source for all Resident Deputy positions.
Attached are two documents that provide the requested information.

i North Richmond., 3 Resident Deputy Positions
Two of these positions were established with partial funding from a Federal COPS
grant; the third position has always been fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
The COPS grant was for three years and expired in August, 2002. This entire program
is now fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
♦ North Richmond: 1 School Resource Officer at Verde School
This position is fully funded by the Sheriff s Office budget.
f North Richmond. 2 Project Pride Resident Deputy Positions
The salary and benefit costs of these positions are fully funded by the Contra Costa
County Housing Authority; all operational costs are funded by the Sheriffs Office
budget.
i North Richmond: 1 Weed & Seed Resident Deputy Position
The salary and benefit cost of these positions is fully funded by Federal Grant money
through the Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department; all
operational costs are funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
♦ Rodeo: 1 Resident deputy Position
This position is fully funded by State Law Enforcement Supplemental (Front Line
Enforcement) Funds.
4 EI Sobrante: 1 Resident Deputy Position
This position is fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
♦ Crockett: 3 Resident Deputy Positions
The cost of these positions is fully funded by the Police Service Area P-1 (Crockett).
i Crockett: 1 School Resource Officer at John Swett High School
This position is fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.

♦ Discovery BayByron 1 Resident Deputy Position
This position is fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
4 Bethel Island 1 Resident Deputy Position
This position was established with partial funding from a Federal COPS grant. The
COPS grant was for three years and expired in August, 2002. This entire program is
now fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.

♦ Bay Point 2 Resident Deputy Positions
The salary and benefit costs of these two positions is funded by Keller Canyon
mitigation fees; all operational costs are funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
♦ Bay Point 1 School Resource Officer
The salary and benefit cost of this position is funded 56% by Keller Canyon mitigation
fees and 44% by Sheriffs Office Budget; all operational costs are funded by the
Sheriffs Office budget.
w VALLEY Station
♦ Walnut Creek 1 Resident Deputy at Contra Costa Centre
This position is fully funded by the Sheriffs Office budget.
♦ Danville: 1 School Resource Officer at Monte Vista High School
This position was established with partial funding from a Federal COPS grant;
remaining funding came from the Board of Supervisors. The COPS grant was for three
years and expired in August, 2002. This entire program is now fully funded by the
Sheriffs Office budget.
