(#29-097) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee to ACCEPT California Department of Aging (CDA) Older Californians Act (OCA) FY2001/2002 funding in the amount of $676,907 and APPROVE Execution of FY 2001/2002 CDA OCA Standard Agreement. (#29-097) FINANCIAL IMPACT: County to receive $676,907 Older Californians Act (CB-102-07) funding; 90% State, 10% Federal. No County funds for match. Required match is provided by contractor agencies: Alzheimer's Day Care Program 25% of direct service contract amount ($20,000 cash and in-kind match) and Brown Bag Program 50% ($11,63 8 cash and in-kind match) of all State funds allocated for this program. BACKGROUND: The Employment and Human Services Department Aging and Adult Services Bureau, Area Agency on Aging (AAA) contracts provide services for older residents of Contra Costa County under the Older Californians Act (OCA). The FY 2001/2002 Arca Plan proposes continued services to provide funding for; senior companion, respite registry, brown bag, Alzheimer's day care, H1CAP and Linkages services. The programs provide services to age 60 years and older. Services include a stipend volunteer program for low income adults age.60 years and older to assist homebound adults in preventing ort delaying institutionalization; the distribution of food bags twice a month; supervision and activities for adults with moderate to severe stages of Alzheimer's disease and related dementia; and, providing respite, training and supportive counseling to caregivers.
