BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): "Lights on Afterschool" is part of a national initiative to promote awareness about innovative, high quality afterschool programs. The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors recently approved funding to implement a pilot program aimed at improving and expanding afterschool programs in an effort to positively affect the health, well-being, and academic progress of Contra Costa school-age children and youth. See attached resolution.
