Thirty-Five Years ) of Employment with Contra Costa County ) WHEREAS Virginia Nelson was initially hired October 3, 1966 as an employe in the Social Services Department,which,in later years became the Family Support Division of the District Attorney's Office,and worked in that office until June 30,1975 serving under District Attorneys John N jedly,John Clausen and William O'Malley and working with law students including, but not limited to, William Glass and the Honorable James Marchiano,currently Justice of the First District Court of App als;and WHEREAS from July 1, 1975 through June 10, 1980 Ginny worked as a Legal Clerk in the Contra Costa Superior Court Clerk's office and was the appeals clerk for the clerk's office ser iing under James Olson; and WHEREAS from June 11,1980 through the present day,Ginny has served as Su erior Court Clerk to the Honorable Richard E. Amason, effectively managing all criminal and general trial assignments in that department;and WHEREAS Virginia Nelson has earned the respect and admiration of Superi r Court Judges, District Attorneys and Public Defenders throughout her long career with the Court; an WHEREAS her fellow clerks recognize her skill and expertise in all criminal mat ers and look upon her as "Clerk Goddess Ginny"; and WHEREAS Ginny epitomizes the term"Madame Clerk" as depicted on her ve icle license plate; and WHEREAS court employees and attorneys seek out Ginny's advice,wisdom and counsel in daily unofficial "court" sessions held in front of the Bray Courthouse building during Ginny's breaks or at noon hour viewings of"All My Children" in the snack bar; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the ounty of Contra Costa hereby acknowledges and celebrates Virginia Nelson on the occasion of her thirty fifth year as an employee of Contra Costa County and thanks her for her dedicated service to the District Attorney's Office, the Superior Court and the people of this county. PASSED and ADOPTED by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors memlers present this 2nd day of October 2001.
