From: Sergeant Robert Sherock Subject: Vehicle Replacement Authorization - Unit #2804 I spoke with Chief Robert Hughes this morning regarding the replacement of A.C. Transit Police Services patrol vehicle #2804. Chief Hughes requests that General Services order a new Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor to replace this Unit in November of 2001. The replacement cost for the unit #2804 should be minimal. Attached is my memo of June 28, 2001; outlining the anticipated expenditure. Chief Hughes has instructed that this memo act as his authorization for the purchase. cc: Chief Robert Hughes, A.C. Transit Protective Services John Cave, Assistant Chief Of Protective Services, A.C. RUPF Contra Costa County Sheriff Patrol Division - A.C. Transit Police Kathryn J. Holmes 510-262-4208 Undersherlff Date: June 28, 2001 To: Chief Robert Hughes, A.C. Transit Protective Services From: Sgt. Robert Sherock Subject: Vehicle Replacement - Unit #2804 This memo will confirm our previous telephone discussion regarding the replacement of A.C. Transit Police Services vehicle unit #2804. Unit#2804 is reaching the end of its patrol cycle and will be fully "depreciated out' in November 2001. The unit will be four years old and will have accumulated well in excess of 100,000 service miles. This is the end of the cost effective life expectancy of a patrol vehicle. Currently there is $18,449.00 in the units vehicle depreciation account. The vehicle has a salvage value of $1,200.00. The vehicle currently has a trade in value of $19,649.00. In November 2001 the vehicle will have a fully depreciated value of $20,755.00 and a salvage value of $1,200.00 for a total trade in value of $21,955.00. The current purchase price of a new replacement vehicle is approximately $23,000.00. The cost to transfer the existing emergency equipment from unit #2804 to the replacement vehicle is approximately $1,200.00. After applying the depreciation account balance and the salvage value the net cost to replace unit #2804 is approximately $2,245.00 I am requesting permission to place an order for a new patrol vehicle to replace unit #2804 in November 2001. cc: Lt Hatchell, Bay Station Cmdr Fred Jones, Fleet Services Manager
