HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10022001 - C.15 RESOLUTION DECLARING OCTOBER 2001, RES LUTION NO. 2001/463 AS ARTS & HUMANITIES MONTH IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY AND OCTOBER 10, 2001 AS ARTS DAY IN CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, Contra Costa County recognizes the contributions of artists, historic il societies, arts agencies, scholars, museums, theatres, performing artists, libraries, schools, and private foundations that represent and support the arts and humanities; and WHEREAS, the arts and humanities benefit and contribute to the health and well eing of the citizens of Contra Costa County by allowing individuals to express their creativity, providing njoyment and enrichment for others, adding cultural diversity through the display of events relating to cultur 1 heritages, and creating jobs for County residents; and WHEREAS, the arts and humanities affect every.aspect of life in Contra Costa Cunty, including the economy, social problem-solving,job creating education, creativity, and communiiulture y livability; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County actively support the arts through the Arts and Commission of Contra Costa county and the several municipal and regional arts alliances that are f inctioning through the County; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County has arts and humanities programs that include the arts for people with disabilities, children of all ages, seniors, and arts programs in inner cities, therapeu 'c, and correctional institutions; and WHEREAS, the Arts and Culture Commission is recognizing several individualsnd one organization for significant achievement in the arts in Contra Costa County at the Sixth Annual Arts Recognition Awards Ceremony on October 14, 2001. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of C tra Costa County does hereby declare the month of October 2001 as Arts & Humanities Montli and Wed sday, October 10, 2001 as Arts Day in California, and urge Contra Costa County residents to participate in an to celebrate the cultural riches our communities have to offer.
