SUBJECT: APPROVAL of Contract Contingency Fund Increase for the State Route 4 Highway Planting Project
DATE: February 27, 2001
PAGE: 2 of 2
Ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
Extensive repairs had to be made to existing CALTRANS facilities before this contract's items could
be completed. The cost of repairs depleted the contingency fund.
During the three-year maintenance period, it is estimated that this project will incur further costs
not related to plant establishment or maintenance. For this reason, the contingency fund must be
re-established to pay the contractor if circumstances require immediate repairs and/or work not
covered under normal maintenance.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
Without approval, the contractor will not receive payment for work done.
