FISCAL IMPACT Redevelopment funds only, no General Funds are involved. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS In the fall of 1999 the Redevelopment Agency engaged Peter Katz to assist in the development of design and site plan concepts that would assist in creating a sense of place at the Pleasant Hill BART Station Area. To date the original contract has been used to introduce the local community to the design principals referred to as "New Urbanism;" to review and critique the proposed Station Oaks (Thomas) office building; to provide a review of the BART joint development site community planning programs; and to establish ,a community charrette program to provide for community involvement in the ongoing design and development process. The additional budgetary authority provided .by this requested action is necessary in order to ensure the completion of the design and development process at the.Pleasant Hill BART Station Area.
