HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12082001 - C.99 To: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS LAA/ st- C, FROM: William Walker, M.D. , Health Services Director ,%_ S:NContra By: Ginger Marieiro, Contracts Administrator Costa December. 4 2001 v DATE: County SUBJECT: Approval of Novation Contract #24-429-29 with Ujima Family Recovery Services SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Chuck Deutschman) to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #24-429-29 with Ujima Family Recovery Services, in an amount not to exceed $1,287,716, to provide perinatal substance abuse treatment services, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 . This contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2002, in an amount not to exceed $643, 858. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is 65.9% Federally funded, 24.6% State funded, and 9.5% County funded. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This Alcohol and Drug Abuse program supports the Board of Supervisors' "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing" community outcome by providing parenting education, stability, and safety for mothers (and their children) and pregnant women who are alcohol and drug dependent, while they are in substance abuse treatment. Expected outcomes include delivery of drug-freebabies, decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, reduction in the number of relapses, and creation of a sober social network. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides family- centered alcohol and drug treatment services to pregnant and parenting women, in order to prevent perinatal substance abuse and improve birth outcomes. On September 12, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contracts #24-429-26 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #24-429-27 and #24-429-28) and #24-617-17 (as amended by Amendment. Agreements #24-617-18 and #24-617-19) with Ujima Family Recovery Services, for the period from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001 (which included six-month automatic extensions through December 31, 2001) for the provision of perinatal intensive day treatment, residential recovery program, and transitional housing for women. This Contract will combine services previously provided under Contracts #24-429-26 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #24-429-27 and #24-429-28) and #24-617-17 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #24-617-18 and #24-617-19) . Approval of Novation Contract #24-429-29 replaces the six-month automatic extensions under the prior Contracts, and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2002 .
