to execute contract amendment #38-458-4 with Cambridge Community
Center, in the amount of $19,200 for a new payment limit of $96,000 for
continued Head Start Program Enhancement services for the period from July

III. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department Head Start Program supports two of Contra
Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in

achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early
childhood education, nutrition, health, and social services, along with a strong
parent involvement focus, to low-income children throughout Contra Costa

ages 3 to 5 years.
IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONSBACKGROUND:
On January 23, 2001, the Board approved the.Financial Assistance award from the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and
Families for Head Start Grant Funds through December 31, 2001.
Approval of this 'contract amendment with Cambridge Community Center will
allow for continuing Head Start services to 40 program eligible children ages three
(3) to five (5) years, in a full day childcare program.
