1I1. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Proposals were considered for a new West County
Street Sweeping contract at the November 6, 2001, Board of Supervisors hearing. The new contract was
continued for staff to provide the Board of Supervisors with additional information regarding the proposals
and the contract process. In order to meet the requirements of our NPDES permit with the San Francisco
Regional Water Quality Control Board continued street sweeping is needed. The contract is being extended
for up to two months at the previous contract costs.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action: If the extension is not approved, the streets in this area will not be
swept and the County will not be in compliance with their NPDES permit through the San Francisco
Regional Water Quality Control Board.
