Project No.:0662-6R4249-95 DATE: December 4, 2001 PAGE 2 II. Financial Impact: This contract amendment allows for an additional $5,000 above the previously approved contract for $20,330, funded by Federal Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Funds (80%), Road Funds (20%). III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Bailey Road Bridge has been identified by the Federal Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program as being structurally and functionally inadequate and is eligible for federal funds to replace it. On June 4, 1996 the Board approved a Consulting Service Agreement with Geo/Resource, Inc. to provide geotechnical site analysis and recommendations for the bridge replacement project. This agreement specified two phases of work. Phase 1 included a report that summarized the geotechnical recommendations for the replacement bridge structure. Phase 2 provided a budget for on-call construction service. The original budget however, did not include a budget for a review of the County's improvement plans prior to the construction phase. This amendment expands the scope of Phase 2 to cover on-call services prior to construction. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: If the amendment is not approved, the County will need to consult with another geotechnical firm to provide a peer review of the final plans.
