SUBJECT: Approval of Novation Contract #74-060-4 with
STAND! Against . Domestic Violence
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S) :
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee
(Chuck Deutschman) to execute on behalf of the County, Novation
Contract #74-060-4 with STAND! Against Domestic Violence (formerly
Battered Women' s Alternatives) in an amount not to exceed $158 , 770 ,
to provide program development, technical assistance, and training
to substance abuse/mental health (SAMHWorks) providers, and domestic
violence direct services to CalWORKs clients, for the period from
July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 .
FISCAL IMPACT.:
This Contract is 100% funded by the State CalWORKs .
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) :
This Contract meets the social needs of County' s population in that
it provides intake, . crisis intervention, and counseling services for
substance abusing and/or mentally ill participants in the CalWORKs
program 'who have also experienced domestic violence, to help
eliminate barriers to employment .
On December 12 , 2000 , the Board of Supervisors approved Contract
#74-060-2 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #74-060-3)
with Battered Women' s Alternatives, for the period from November 1,
2000 through June 30 , 2001 (which included a six-month automatic
extension through December 31 , 2001) for the provision of program
development, technical assistance, and training to SAMHWorks
providers, and domestic violence services to CalWORKs clients .
The Contractor has officially changed its name to STAND! Against
Domestic Violence .
Approval of Novation Contract #74-060-4 will replace the automatic
extension under the prior Contract and allows the Contractor to
continue providing services through June 30 , 2002 .
