SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE 2001 CSBG CONTRACT AMENDMENT
WITH COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION.
Specific Request (S) or Recommendation (S) & Background and Justification
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director or designee to
execute contract amendment #38-571-11 with Food Bank of Contra Costa and
Solano in.the amount of $20,000 for. a new total. Payment Limit of $64,080 for
2001 Community Services Block Grant poverty program services for the period
from November 15, 2001 through December 31, 2001.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This contract is State funded through a contract with the California Department
of Community Services and Development. No County funding is required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
On January 16, 2001 the 'Board of-Supervisors approved the 2001 Community
.Services Block Grant State Standard Agreement (01F-4008) with the California
Department of Community Services and Development for 25% of the total grant
amount. On April 24, 2001 the Board of Supervisors approved the balance of
75%.
Contractors were selected based on the results of a Request for Proposal (RFP)
process administered by the Community Services Department and the Economic
Opportunity Council to provide poverty program services in target areas of the
County.
As a designated Community Action Agency (CAA), the Contra Costa County
Community Services Department is eligible for Community Service Block Grant
(CSBG) funds. CSBG funds must be used to promote the statewide priority of
Family Self-Sufficiency. The County's Economic Opportunity Council (EOC),
which acts as an advisory body to the Community Services Department, has
participated in the RFP process.
Approval of this contract amendment will provide additional funds to the Food
Bank of Contra Costa and Solano for their continuing effort in providing CSBG
program services in Contra Costa County.
