FISCAL IMPACT None to the General Fund. The Regional Transit Expansion Program proposed by MTC would bring a $345 million commitment of future funds for rail transit extensions in Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS Recently BART and the Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority(VTA) reached agreement on an extension of BART to San Jose. The agreement doesn't include a Santa Clara County "buy-in" to help finance long-sought BART extensions in East County, West County, and Livermore, as Contra Costa and Alameda Counties had sought.
